Family Photos

I've always had nothing but admiration for STUDIO family photographers. They really have their work cut out for them.

Let's just say some kids are over enthusiastic... and you know what? Those are my favourite types. But boy it can be a challenge to get a *nice* (i.e. not silly) family photo with them in the frame.

Over the Christmas holidays, the family gathered so we took the opportunity to take a family photograph. Me, being part of the family, also had to be in the picture. So I really had no idea what was going on while I clicked the camera remote control about 30 times. THIRTY times! I figured for SURE I'd get at least ONE photo with everybody looking nice.

Well, my nephew Paul had other ideas (as did Steven, John-Ross, Sam, and Sarah), and he is who you see to the left. I have to applaud the guy for thinking up SO many different faces in such a short timespan. I'm impressed. Not bad for an 8 year old. Absolutely hilarious... which is why I love these guys.

Well, wish me luck in photoshop. I'm gonna need it! =)

It was an icy day!

One of the best things about Edmonton is that the year is full of festivals and cool things to do. This is one of the reasons I love it so much here! Merry and I went to the Ice on Whyte festival and had a lot of fun!

This dragon really impressed me:

As did this cute doggie:

For $1, you can ride down this long slide they made out of ice! They give you this slippery thing to sit on (works like a krazy karpet) and you just hang on and go! It was actually pretty darn fast! (And bumpy too)

Since it was cold, we stopped off on Whyte Avenue for some hot chocolate. I LOVE old, classic buildings and whyte is full of them. I'm so happy to be living in this fun area of town. If you look closely, you can see our drinks in the window and the girl who made it working in the back.

So many people complain about winter, but I just love it! It doesn't feel like Christmas if there isn't snow all around. I wouldn't love the summer so much if it wasn't cold the other half of the year. There are so many DIFFERENT activities to do in the winter than in the summer... it's almost like living two lives in two different worlds. I wouldn't trade our Canadian winters for ANY tropical island.

So go out and have some fun in the cold! It'll be gone in only a couple of months! Posted by Picasa

Christmas Kiddies

Had the fortune of spending time with ALL our nieces and nephews (and friends) this holiday season! It was great! We have too many so I can't post all of them but here are a couple!

Annaluise wanted some cute bathtime pics of Ellah and Kayleb:

Gordon with his typical cute smile:

Sam excited about his gift:

Elizabeth enjoying New Year's brunch at grandma's house:

Lauryn mastering her colouring calendar:

Gosh these guys crack me up. They're all so cute!

It's baaaaaack!! Yay!!!

I am so happy. I just received one of lenses back from the Canon repair centre! I haven't tested it out yet but I'll assume it's working well until I test it. For those who don't know, it completely and totally messed up and malfunctioned right as Heather and Dave's wedding ceremony started. Yikes! This is my workhorse lens that takes about 80% of all my shots. Of course, they had no idea anything was wrong and I didn't miss a shot (well, maybe they know now), which is why it is wise to hire a professional who can deal with a situation like this.

Anyhow, I'm just so happy so I had to make a rather useless post. :) Posted by Picasa
