Thanks Cheryl and Manu!

Yesterday was such a fun evening spending part of it with Cheryl and Manu. Such a playful and fun couple to photograph and hang out with! Running around the Low Level Bridge area was interesting as walkways were closed, as were stairways that we were planning to use. We probably ended up walking over 3 kms over the course of the evening, and to top it off, Cheryl and Manu ran up and down LOTS of stairs. It's a good thing they're in top physical form...

Here is a link to a slideshow from that evening:

Thanks Connie and Wilson!

I had a great time hanging out with you guys! It was great running around downtown at night! You guys seemed more and more natural infront of the camera like seasoned pros!

It was an interesting night. There was this guy standing on the corner of the square downtown yelling at the top of his lungs the entire time we were there. He was screaming things like "Jesus is the way to heaven!" "There is eternal life but also eternal darkness, and most of you are going there!" "Repent for your sins now or burn in the flames!"

I guess some people do God's work through their actions, and some of them feel they need to scream in the middle of downtown Edmonton. In any case, it was rather entertaining.

The day was also a little cold. Fall has certainly arrived and definitely did not ease into it. It pretty much turned cold in a day. But somehow, Wilson and Connie toughed it out and cooperated with me very graciously. Gotta love them for that! In the end, we got a bunch of great shots and got to hang out with a GREAT, fun couple. Good times!

Our new House!!!

My wife and I recently moved to a new house! We LOVE it! We both love old character homes in old communities. Merry found this house and we just HAD to have it! Somehow we managed to find a house that was small and had a largeish lot, and an amazing garage for my toys on wheels... lol. Look at it! Isn't it just a happy looking home??? =)

The venerable AE86

People who know me well know I am a car nut. Always have been. I am not into the newer cars... they just don't excite me. What I am currently into is old school cars (not quite classic yet). Specifically, the car known as the AE86. On this continent, it is known as the Corolla GT-S/SR5, but elsewhere, it also bears the names Sprinter, Trueno, Levin, and probably other things I am probably unaware of.

My 1984 Corolla SR5

What do I do with this car besides take pretty pictures of it? Well, it is my racecar. My friends and I rent the local racetrack and duke it out. It's fun trying to keep up with cars with quadruple the horsepower... I do pretty good all things considered, but 109hp can be limiting. As for what kind of modifications I have... that list is too long to list, but I'll say that every mod has a performance theme. I'm not into the whole 'styling' thing and doing things just for looks. Factory style is what I prefer! I also don't have a stereo... weight savings is a must!

so who the heck are you anyways?

That's what some people may ask.
well, my name is Lloyd and I am a photographer specializing in weddings. I love weddings because it's like being paid to go to a party! It's fun, emotions are running high, and it's amazing to be part of one of the most important days in a couple's life.

Congrats Rob and Alicia!

Whenever I talk to clients, it's like talking to good friends. When I am shooting, it's also like hanging out all day with your buddies. What a blast!! Who wouldn't like that? Great food, great music, good times!

Often people ask me (usually prospective clients) why I choose to photograph weddings. Well, there was your answer. I'm just a goofball who happens to like holding a camera.

My other passions include eating lots of food. Another reason why wedding photography is so awesome. "Sure, you can pay me to eat this fantastic filet mignon if you wish!" Hahaha oh how I like food.

I'll post up a little more about myself in the coming days. I'm still trying to get a hang of this blogging thing. And I am going to try to regularly post pictures (of weddings and not) often. Hey... this is kinda fun!

Greetings earthlings

Hey all.
I never considered having a blog until recently. I spent a weekend in Santa Barbara, California to attend a workshop from David Jay. I still wasn't quite convinced but after talking over lunch, he convinced me to start one up.

If you don't know who David Jay is, he is one of the most sought-after wedding photographers around. http://www.davidjay.com

Thanks for your help, DJ. Your service-mindedness and keen business sense is inspiring. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge. And getting harassed by mall security AND the police in one night was hilarious! Who knew photography could attract so much attention?
